CHOOI MUN SOU

Mr Chooi Mun Sou is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The Edge Education Foundation and was appointed as a Trustee on January 16, 2008. He founded Chooi & Company in December 1962 and has extensive experience in a wide range of commercial and corporate transactions. He was instrumental in setting up the Malaysian Housing Developers Association in 1973. In 1984, he was appointed by the Malaysian government to serve on the three-man BMF Inquiry Committee to investigate Bumiputra Malaysia Finance Ltd (BMF) in Hong Kong in relation to a RM2 billion loan scandal caused by the collapse of the Carrian group of companies headed by George Tan. He was thereafter appointed by the Hong Kong government to act in relation to the prosecution of the three directors of BMF and George Tan.

Mr Chooi was called to the Bar of England and Wales, and was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1960. He published his memoirs Malaysia My Home – Quo Vadis in June 2022.

Philip Koh was appointed as a Trustee of The Edge Education Foundation on January 16, 2008. He has over 40 years of expertise in the academic, professional and industry worlds. His specialisations include contract and investment laws, mergers and acquisitions, financial services and securities regulation, corporate and securities law and corporate governance, commercial and civil litigation, and public law. As senior counsel at High Court, Court of Appeal and Federal Court levels, he has also been involved in a number of landmark commercial, civil, public and constitutional law cases.

He has a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of Malaya, a Master of Laws (LL.M) from King's College London and a Master of Arts (Theology) from Australian Catholic University. Mr Koh is an Adjunct Professor at Universiti Malaya as well as at Monash University Malaysia School of Business. He is also the founding Chairman of World Vision Malaysia, the local chapter of an international humanitarian and relief organisation.

Raja Maizura binti Raja Ariff was appointed as a Trustee of The Edge Education Foundation on September 2, 2008. She graduated from the University of London in 1987 and was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1989. From 1989 to 1996, she was with Othman Hashim & Co. She then joined Rahman Too & Co. until the year 2000 when she and a former colleague from Othman Hashim set up Raja Ariff & Sin where she remained until 2018.
